DRACUT — On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at approximately 8:35 p.m., the Dracut police and fire departments responded to the area of 166 Merrimack Avenue, following a report of a rollover crash.
According to Dracut Police Chief Peter Bartlett and Dracut Fire Chief Michael Cunha, while en route, first responders were informed that an individual had been ejected from one of the involved vehicles.
When first responders arrived on scene, they were met with the aftermath of a two-vehicle crash involving a Jeep Wrangler and a Subaru Forester.
A 48-year-old man, later identified as Damian Torres, of Tyngsborough, was found unconscious on the roadway near a Jeep Wrangler that came to a rest on its side.
An off-duty EMT with Pridestar Trinity EMS was already at the scene performing CPR on Torres when emergency crews arrived on scene, Bartlett and Cunha said. Police officers took over CPR until personnel from Pridestar Trinity EMS and paramedics from Lowell General Hospital arrived. Torres was then transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Firefighters evaluated a woman and teenager who were in the Subaru Forester and treated them on scene for minor injuries.
“Police and firefighters deployed a K9 unit and a boat to extensively search the area, based on reports that suggested a second person may have been in the Wrangler,” Bartlett and Cunha said in a statement. “No other individuals were found.”
The crash remains under investigation by Dracut police and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
