Franklin man, 61, arrested for brandishing firearm during road rage incident in Bellingham

BELLINGHAM — On June 2, 2026, at approximately 6:43 p.m., the Bellingham Public Safety Communications Center received a report that a man had pointed a firearm at another man after a road rage incident on Maple Street.

According to the Bellingham Police Department, Bellingham police officers responded to the area and quickly identified a suspect vehicle and its operator.

The Franklin Police Department was notified by Bellingham police and asked to be on the lookout for the suspect.

The Bellingham Police Department reported that, a short time later, Franklin police officers located the suspect inside the vehicle in the parking lot of the 99 Restaurant in Franklin.

Bellingham officers responded to the scene, interviewed the suspect, and recovered a loaded firearm.

The suspect, identified by police as Stephen Fahey, 61, of Franklin, was placed under arrest and transported to the Bellingham Police Department for booking.

Fahey was charged with the following:

  • Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon
  • Carrying a Firearm while Intoxicated
  • Disturbing the Peace

Fahey was arraigned on the morning of Wednesday, June 3, 2026, in Milford District Court.

The Bellingham Police Department thanked the Franklin Police Department for its assistance in the investigation and apprehension of the suspect.
