NEWBURYPORT — A 47-year-old Maine man was arrested Thursday night after Newburyport police said a traffic stop led to the discovery of crack cocaine, suspected methamphetamine pills, and psilocybin mushrooms.
According to Newburyport City Marshal Matthew Simons, Officer Schyler Reilly observed a vehicle with Maine plates cross the center line on Storey Avenue at about 8:55 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
Officer Reilly pulled the vehicle over and, during an initial investigation, determined that the driver, identified as Kristopher Boyd Hauck, 47, of Fryeburg, Maine, was operating with a suspended license.

City Marshal Simons said a subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of approximately 169 grams of crack cocaine, about 9.5 grams of suspected pressed methamphetamine pills, and 15 grams of psilocybin mushrooms.
Hauck was charged with trafficking in 100 grams or more of methamphetamine, possession of a Class B drug with intent to distribute, possession of a Class B drug, possession of a Class C drug, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and a marked lanes violation.
Hauck was held on $100,000 cash bail. His arraignment is scheduled for Friday in Newburyport District Court.
“I am always appreciative of the awareness and proactive police work done by our officers on a daily basis,” City Marshal Simons said. “This arrest by Officer Reilly for trafficking illegal drugs reinforces our commitment to keeping Newburyport safe together.”
