HINGHAM — On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at approximately 5:14 p.m., Hingham police responded to a single-vehicle crash on George Washington Boulevard that sent an SUV into the woods, brought down power lines, and injured the driver.
According to the Hingham Police Department, the SUV was heading past the Hingham District Court toward Hull when it struck a curb, drove across the courthouse parking lot, hit a utility pole, and then struck a tree in the woods.
The 23-year-old driver, who was injured, was able to get out of the vehicle on their own, police said.
The driver was transported to the hospital by Hingham Fire Department ambulance with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The crash caused utility power lines to come down across the parking lot and on George Washington Boulevard, forcing the road to close for about an hour.
Hingham police said the driver was cited, and a request was submitted to the Registry of Motor Vehicles to suspend the driver’s license as an immediate threat.
The Hingham Police Department added that a medical issue may have contributed to the crash and that the driver was wearing a seat belt.
