Oxford man arrested following illegal firearms manufacturing investigation

OXFORD — On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, Oxford police, Massachusetts State Police, and members of federal agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and U.S. Postal Inspectors, executed a search warrant at 31 Orchard Hill Drive following an investigation into the illegal manufacturing and possession of firearms.

According to the Oxford Police Department, as a result of the search, police arrested Jonathan Sweeney, 28, of Oxford and charged him with the following:

  • Possession of a firearm without a license to carry
  • Possession of ammunition without a license to carry
  • Improper storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a large-capacity feeding device

Sweeney was arraigned in Dudley District Court.

The Oxford Police Department thanked Massachusetts State Police, ATF, and U.S. Postal Inspectors for assisting with the investigation.
