OXFORD — On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at approximately 5:38 a.m., Oxford Fire-EMS responded to 11 Vernon Street after a 911 caller reported a garage fire.
According to Oxford Fire-EMS, Squad 1 and Tanker 1 responded immediately.
While crews were responding to the scene, dispatch notified them that the fire had spread to the adjacent occupied residence, prompting Chief Kenneth Sellers to upgrade the response to a second alarm.

When crews arrived, heavy fire was visible from the garage, as well as the second and third floors of the home.
Firefighters split their efforts between attacking the garage fire and conducting an interior attack on the upper floors of the residence.
Firefighters from the following departments provided mutual aid on scene: Auburn, Dudley, Charlton, Douglas, Leicester, and Webster. Sutton and Webster EMS provided station coverage for Oxford during the incident.
Oxford Fire-EMS said all residents were out of the home when crews arrived, and all occupants were accounted for.
No injuries were reported by Oxford Fire-EMS at the time of the incident.
