Woman taken into custody after man suffers life-threatening stab wound in Fairhaven

FAIRHAVEN — On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at approximately 10:44 a.m., Fairhaven police responded to the area of 60 Main Street following a report of a stabbing.

According to Fairhaven Police Chief Daniel Dorgan, when officers arrived on scene, they located an adult male suffering from an apparent stab wound to the torso. The man was treated at the scene by Fairhaven EMS and transported to a local hospital with injuries believed to be life-threatening.

A woman was taken into custody at the scene in connection with the incident.

Chief Dorgan said the preliminary investigation indicates the man and the suspect are known to one another, and police do not believe there is any threat to the general public.

The incident remains under investigation by the Fairhaven Police Detective Division and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
