Two found dead during welfare check at Fairhaven home

FAIRHAVEN — On Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, at approximately 7:03 p.m., Fairhaven police responded to a residence on Jameson Street after receiving a report requesting a health and welfare check.

According to a statement from Fairhaven Police Chief Daniel Dorgan, police were able to enter the locked residence with the assistance of the Fairhaven Fire Department.

“Officers located a woman in her 50s and a man in his 60s unresponsive in a bedroom,” Chief Dorgan said in the statement. “Both were pronounced deceased at the scene. Based on the preliminary investigation, police believe this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public at this time.”

The incident remains under investigation by the Fairhaven Police Department and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
