Oxford police arrest man accused of smashing windows with baseball bat on Main Street

OXFORD — A Webster man was arrested after allegedly smashing windows on a vehicle and a nearby home with a baseball bat late Tuesday night before fleeing the scene, according to police.

At approximately 10:25 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, the Oxford Police Department received a 911 call reporting property damage at a residence on Main Street. Officers arrived to find broken windows on both a vehicle and the residence. Another vehicle on the property also sustained damage. Witnesses reported seeing the suspect run from the area.

Police identified the suspect as Michael Walsh of Webster. A coordinated search was launched with support from K9 units from the Charlton and Auburn Police Departments.

A short time later, officers located Walsh walking along Main Street. He was taken into custody without further incident. A baseball bat believed to have been used in the vandalism was recovered from the scene.

Michael Walsh was charged with:

  • Malicious Destruction of Property
  • Threats to Commit a Crime

His bail was set at $7,500, and he is expected to appear in court later today.

“We are grateful for the quick work of our officers and the strong regional partnerships we share,” the Oxford Police Department said in a statement. “The assistance from Charlton and Auburn’s K9 units played a key role in safely resolving this incident.”
