Corporal Zachary Losee and Officer Lee Murphy also responded.
When the officers arrived at the residence, they spoke with the reporting party.
“[The reporting party] stated that she heard the neighbors arguing and saw them hitting each other in the front yard. While speaking with [the reporting party], a blue Mazda bearing MA registration [# redacted], arrived on scene with a female operator,” Officer Cavic said. “[The reporting party] recognized the operator as the female party involved. Officer Murphy spoke with the female party, identified as Azelyn Roux, who had marks on her arms from the altercation. EMS was requested to evaluate Azelyn.”
According to police, Azelyn M. Roux, 28, is a resident of Dayville, Connecticut.
Officer Cavic then went to speak with the male party, who he said had been in a “substantial dating relationship” with Roux and shared a 5-year-old child with her.
The man’s mother answered the door, and Officer Cavic asked to speak with him. When he came outside, Officer Cavic observed that the man’s shirt was ripped and barely hanging from his shoulders and that a cut on the inside of his finger was bleeding.
Officer Cavic said that because of a domestic assault and battery incident in October 2025, the male party had custody of their child and a court order requiring Roux to stay away from his residence. Officer Cavic said that the man was staying with his mother at the time because his residence was undergoing renovations.
“[The male party] said that Azelyn had contacted him about buying him marijuana from a dispensary in Webster, which [he] declined,” Officer Cavic said. “[The male party] stated that he blocked her phone number and she contacted him again via a no-caller-ID, demanding the cell phone be returned. [The male party] and Azelyn share a cell phone plan together.”
The male party said Roux arrived at the residence uninvited and entered through the unlocked front door. He said she then rushed toward him and demanded the cellphone, saying, “Give me my f*cking phone.”
Officer Cavic said the male party explained that he agreed to return the cellphone and was in the process of restoring it to its factory settings, but asked Roux to leave because of her aggressive behavior toward him and his mother.
“When Azelyn refused to leave, [the male party] pushed her out of the front door and attempted to shut the door, but Azelyn kicked the door open, striking [him] in the face,” Officer Cavic said. “[The male party] then demanded that Azelyn leave the residence and threw the phone on the paved walkway in front of the house, causing the phone to become damaged.”
Officer Cavic said Roux grabbed the male party’s mother when she attempted to call police. Roux then allegedly grabbed the male party, and the two began pushing each other in the front yard.
“[The male party’s mother] attempted to separate the two, resulting in Azelyn striking her in the face. In defense of his mother, [the male party] hit Azelyn back,” Officer Cavic said.
Officer Cavic said he then spoke with Roux, who denied entering the residence and alleged that the male party struck her first.
“Azelyn said that she was strangled, but I did not observe any visible marks on her neck that would be caused by strangulation,” Officer Cavic said. “After speaking with all parties, I determined that Azelyn was the dominant aggressor and told Azelyn to turn around and place her hands behind her back and informed her she was being placed under arrest for domestic assault and battery.”
Azelyn M. Roux, 28, of Dayville, Connecticut, was charged with the following:
- Assault & Battery on Family/Household Member
- Breaking & Entering for Misdemeanor
- Assault & Battery on 60+/Disabled
Officer Cavic said Roux injured herself in the cruiser while she was being transported to the police station for booking. After they arrived at the station, Auburn EMS transported her to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester for evaluation and treatment. A physician subsequently ordered her involuntary hospitalization under Section 12 of Chapter 123 of the Massachusetts General Laws, which permits the emergency, involuntary hospitalization of a person believed to be at risk of seriously harming themselves or others because of mental illness.
Roux was served with an abuse prevention order before she was transferred from police custody to the hospital’s care.
Roux was arraigned in Dudley District Court on June 8, 2026. Following her arraignment, she was released on personal recognizance. Her next court date is a pretrial hearing scheduled for August 18, 2026.
