TEWKSBURY — On Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, at approximately 6:15 p.m., Tewksbury police officers were patrolling the Main Street area when they observed what appeared to be a drug transaction involving a silver sedan.
According to Tewksbury Police Chief Ryan Columbus, officers approached the sedan and identified its occupants as Kevin Jones, 30, of Lowell, and Laura Coffey, 31, of Chelmsford.
While speaking with Jones and Coffey, Chief Columbus said police observed clear plastic bags containing a white powdery substance inside the vehicle. Both individuals were then taken into custody without incident.
Tewksbury police officers subsequently searched the vehicle with assistance from Billerica police, the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office, and the Andover Police K-9 Unit. The search allegedly uncovered multiple bags containing a white powdery substance determined to be 26.2 grams of cocaine, a small rock-like substance determined to be crack cocaine, a clear crystalline substance determined to be MDMA, and drug paraphernalia.
Kevin Jones, 30, of Lowell, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Trafficking in 18 Grams or More of Cocaine
- Distribution of a Class B Drug (Cocaine)
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug
- Possession of a Class B Drug (Crack Cocaine)
Laura Coffey, 31, of Chelmsford, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Trafficking in 18 Grams or More of Cocaine
- Distribution of a Class B Drug (Cocaine)
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug (MDMA)
Jones and Coffey were arraigned Tuesday in Lowell District Court.
