CAMBRIDGE — On Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026, at around 7:35 a.m., Cambridge Emergency Communications received reports of a fire at 9 Robert Road.
According to the Cambridge Fire Department, when companies arrived on scene, they encountered flames coming from the third floor of the three-family residence.
Acting Deputy Fire Chief Joseph Fournier assumed command and ordered a second alarm. Firefighters contained the blaze and brought it under control in just over an hour.

Nine occupants and two dogs were displaced. The Cambridge Fire Department’s Office of Emergency Preparedness and the American Red Cross assisted those affected.
The response included Cambridge police, Cambridge Inspectional Services, the Boston Sparks Association and fire departments from Somerville, Belmont, Arlington and Brookline.
The Cambridge Fire Investigation Unit is investigating the cause.
