FALL RIVER — On Sunday, Aug. 16, 2026, at approximately 11:52 a.m., Fall River police responded to the SRTA Bus Terminal at 118 Fourth Street following reports of a stabbing and a man chasing another individual with a knife.
According to the Fall River Police Department, police later determined the incident occurred at an address on Fifth Street.
When officers arrived on scene, they found a 45-year-old man suffering from multiple lacerations to his head and shoulder. The officers provided medical aid to the man until Fall River EMS arrived and transported him to Rhode Island Hospital for further treatment. His condition was not released.

The Fall River Police Department reported that police quickly located a man matching the description provided by dispatch on nearby Hartwell Street and identified him as 56-year-old Kenneth Bell. Police allegedly recovered a folding utility knife from Bell’s pocket during a pat frisk. Investigators also determined that Bell had taken belongings from the victim.
Kenneth Bell, 56, was taken into custody and transported to the Fall River Police Department for booking on the following charges:
- Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon
- Armed Assault with Intent to Murder
- Armed Robbery
- Vandalize Property
- Disturbing the Peace while Armed
