MILFORD — On Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026, at approximately 6:24 p.m., the Milford Public Safety Communications Center received multiple emergency calls reporting a stabbing in the Hayward Street area.
According to the Milford Police Chief Robert Tusino, one caller told dispatchers they were on their way to the hospital with an 18-year-old victim.
When officers arrived on scene, they found multiple bloodstains on the pavement of Hayward Street. They then located the suspect, Edwyn Sanchez, 19, of Milford. Chief Tusino said officers observed blood on Sanchez’s arms and legs while speaking with him.

Sanchez was arrested at approximately 6:56 p.m. and transported to the Milford Police Department for booking.
Edwyn Sanchez, 19, of Milford, was charged with the following:
- Assault to Murder
- Assault & Battery with Dangerous Weapon Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury
- Assault & Battery with Dangerous Weapon
- Disturbing the Peace
- Disorderly Conduct
The victim was flown by LifeFlight to UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester with life-threatening injuries.
Portions of Hayward Street remained closed for the next several hours while members of the Milford Police Detective Bureau and Massachusetts State Police investigated.
Chief Tusino said the investigation remains ongoing.
“We’re learning more of what led to this act of violence as our detectives continue to investigate,” Chief Tusino said. “We’re fortunate to have quickly taken the suspect into custody without further incident.”
Sanchez remains in custody without bail, Chief Tusino said.
