BOSTON — A Fall River man was sentenced in federal court in Boston on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026, on a charge of attempting to possess cocaine with the intent to distribute the drug for allegedly shipping cocaine through the U.S. mail from California to Massachusetts.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, Justin Dupras, 44, of Fall River, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Leo T. Sorokin to time served (two days).
Dupras pleaded guilty to one count of attempting to possess cocaine with the intent to distribute in May 2025. He was charged by criminal complaint in January 2025.
Federal prosecutors say that Dupras mailed a package containing approximately two kilograms of cocaine from a post office in Los Angeles, California, to Fall River on Dec. 17, 2024. Dupras then returned to Massachusetts and drove to the Fall River Post Office on Dec. 19, 2024. Another individual signed for the package of cocaine and handed it to Dupras.
Dupras also mailed packages containing cocaine from California to Massachusetts on multiple prior occasions, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts. For instance, on Sept. 17, 2024, Dupras mailed a box containing over two kilograms of cocaine from Chino Hills, California, to Fall River, and on Oct. 29, 2024, he mailed a box containing approximately two kilograms of cocaine from Los Angeles to Fall River. Flight records showed Dupras returning to Massachusetts on the same day each of those packages was mailed, federal prosecutors said.
U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley and Justin Page, acting inspector in charge of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service’s Boston Division, announced the sentence.
The Fall River Police Department provided assistance with the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Abely prosecuted the case.
