WORCESTER — Two men were arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, after Worcester police executed a search warrant at a Mott Street apartment and allegedly recovered cocaine, fentanyl pills, marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms, and a large-capacity firearm believed to be a ghost gun.
According to the Worcester Police Department, the target of the warrant was 43-year-old Juan Vargas.
During surveillance, detectives allegedly saw Vargas leave the apartment and stopped him a short distance away on Barclay Street. After informing Vargas of the search warrant for the apartment, detectives recovered three individually knotted bags of cocaine from a cross-body bag Vargas was wearing.
Vice Squad detectives, Worcester police K-9 officers and Emergency Operations Patrol officers then went to the Mott Street apartment. The Worcester Police Department said the officers entered the building through an open common door and went to the second-floor apartment.
After officers knocked, announced themselves and received no response, they forced entry into the apartment, according to the Worcester Police Department.
Inside one of the bedrooms, detectives found 44-year-old Kola Anjorin.
A search of Vargas’ bedroom allegedly uncovered approximately 40 grams of cocaine packaged for distribution, a large amount of marijuana packaged for distribution, suspected psychedelic mushrooms packaged for distribution, and materials used to package and process drugs.
The Worcester Police Department said a search of Anjorin’s bedroom allegedly uncovered numerous pressed fentanyl pills packaged for distribution, drug processing and packaging materials, and an AR-style, large-capacity handgun loaded with a 30-round magazine. The firearm did not have any visible serial numbers and appears to be a ghost gun, according to police.
The Worcester Police Department said Anjorin does have a license to carry a firearm or a firearm identification card.
Vargas was arrested and charged with trafficking in cocaine between 36 and 99 grams.
Anjorin was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute a Class A drug (fentanyl pills), possession of a large-capacity firearm, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, improper storage of a large-capacity firearm, and possession of a large-capacity feeding device.
The Framingham Police Department’s K-9 unit assisted Worcester police with the search, the department said.
