Two-alarm fire damages Casella transfer station in Oxford

OXFORD — On Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, at approximately 12:25 a.m., Oxford Fire and EMS responded to the Casella transfer station at 200 Leicester Street following reports of a working fire.

According to Oxford Fire & Emergency Services, the incident quickly escalated to a second-alarm assignment because of the need for additional tankers and a reliable water supply.

Firefighters from Oxford and surrounding communities worked to contain the blaze, which was extinguished by approximately 2:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported. Fire officials said the blaze caused minor damage to the structure and its contents.

The Charlton, Leicester, Auburn, Webster, Dudley, and Sutton fire departments provided mutual aid during the response.
