ACTON — On Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026, at approximately 3:33 p.m., Acton firefighters responded to 5 Harvard Court following a report of a smoke detector sounding in one of the building’s units.
According to Acton Fire Chief Anita Arnum, when firefighters arrived on scene, they discovered that a sprinkler system had knocked down an apparent grease fire in the kitchen of the middle unit of the multi-unit apartment building.
The affected unit sustained smoke and water damage, but the rest of the building was undamaged, Chief Arnum said.
No injuries were reported.
“This incident once again shows how affective sprinkler systems are,” Chief Arnum said. “We are grateful this incident was not more serious thanks to the efficient work of this technology.”
