“At this time, I asked [the woman] why she was here, and she stated she wanted to report that her ex-boyfriend broke into her home on the morning of Sept. 19, 2026 around 2:00 a.m.,” Officer Bolivar said.

Officer Bolivar asked the reporting party who her boyfriend was and she said she didn’t want to say.

The reporting party then said she had a video of her ex coming into her house at around 2:00 a.m. and then leaving the residence around 4:00 a.m.

“[She] went on to explain that she was home during this time, sleeping in her bed, and had no idea that he was in her home,” Officer Bolivar said. “[The reporting party] then explained that the only reason why she checked her Ring camera was because a ‘friend’ of her ex-boyfriend’s had texted her the morning of Sept. 19, 2026, asking if ‘She was alright.’ [The reporting party] stated she responded ‘Yeah, why?’ to which the friend told her that her ex-boyfriend had come to her home that night.”

Officer Bolivar then asked the reporting party who the friend texting her was and she refused to say, wanting to keep it anonymous.

“I then asked her if I could see the video, to which she stated yes and proceeded to show me,” Officer Bolivar said. “The video clearly shows a white male with a beard approach her door, open it and go inside. This was time stamped at 2:00 a.m. on Sept. 19, 2026.”

The video then shows the man leave the residence at around 4:00 a.m., Officer Bolivar said.

“At this time, I asked [her] to give me the male’s information, to which she still refused,” Officer Bolivar said. He said the reporting party then explained that she and her ex-boytfriend broke up and the last time she saw him was about a month ago.

“[The reporting party] explained that she had at no point given him a key to her house, and that her door was locked on Sept. 19, 2026, when he was seen entering,” Officer Bolivar said. “[She] stated that she thought he must have stolen her house key when they were dating, and made a copy of it without her knowledge.”

Officer Bolivar added that the reporting party stated multiple times that she was afraid of her ex-boyfriend and that she has previously obtained multiple 209A abuse prevention orders against him.

“She also explained that he has been arrested for previously breaking into her home and assaulting her,” Officer Bolivar said. “At this time, I again asked [her] to give me his information, to which she stated she did not want to do because she was in fear of him and his friends.”

Officer Bolivar said he then advised the reporting party of her right to seek an emergency 209A abuse prevention order, but she said she was not interested.

“[The reporting party] stated to me directly that she knows he carries a firearm,” Officer Bolivar said. “[She] also stated she was in fear because ‘he broke down my door in Ware and beat the sh*t out of me.'”

Officer Bolivar said that after the reporting party left Barre Police Headquarters, he contacted the Ware Police Department and provided her information, hoping officers could identify her ex-boyfriend through their database.

“The Ware Police Department was able to find the name Derek Tweedie…on previously closed 209A orders between [the reporting party] and Derek,” Officer Bolivar said.

According to police, Derek S. Tweedie, 35, is a resident of Ware, MA.

Officer Bolivar then ran Tweedie’s Massachusetts license number through the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) database and matched his license picture with the male from the Ring camera footage.

“Based on my training and experience, I was able to verify through the pictures that Derek was the male in the video,” Officer Bolivar explained. “I then verified through CJIS that Derek does not possess an active MA [Massachusetts] License to Carry Firearms (LTC).”

Officer Bolivar said that, based on the totality of circumstances, he believed there was probable cause to charge Tweedie with the following:

  • Breaking & Entering Nighttime for Felony

“At approximately 9:55 p.m., I advised dispatched to put out a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) for Derek,” Officer Bolivar said.

According to the court docket from East Brookfield District Court, on Sept. 23, 2026, a warrant was issued for Tweedie’s arrest, and he has not been arrested since.
