ACTON — On Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, at approximately 4:07 p.m., Acton firefighters responded to a report of a car fire on Route 2 eastbound past Newton Road.
According to the Acton Fire Department, when crews arrived on scene, they found a 2014 Toyota Prius fully engulfed in flames in the breakdown lane.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was able to exit the vehicle before first responders arrived on scene.
Acton firefighters extinguished the blaze, but the car was deemed a total loss.
Route 2 was temporarily closed while crews worked to extinguish the fire.
Massachusetts State Police also responded and helped with traffic control.
No injuries were reported.
The incident remains under investigation by the Acton Fire Department.
