Victim in fatal shooting at Worcester State University identified, manhunt for alleged killer continues

WORCESTER — The victim in Saturday’s fatal shooting at Worcester State University has been identified as 19-vear-old Randy Armando Melendez Jr. of Southbridge, Worcester County District Attorney Joe Early said.

Authorities are still on the hunt for Kevin Rodriguez, 18, who is wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of Melendez.

Rodriguez, who last lived in Lawrence, is wanted on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and armed assault with intent to murder. He is the second suspect police are looking to apprehend. On Saturday, following the shooting, an individual at the scene was arrested. His name has not yet been released. The second, surviving victim’s name has not yet been released either.

Authorities say Rodriguez should be considered armed and dangerous.  The public is advised to call 911 immediately if they see him.
