According to the Massachusetts State Police, around 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, a trooper attempted to pull over a 2013 Infiniti G37 on Route 291 eastbound near Exit 4 in Springfield after noticing the vehicle crossing over the lane markings and otherwise failing to stay within the boundaries of the lane.
Initially, the driver appeared to comply, by signaling and pulling over to the right side of the road, but then the driver suddenly accelerated away, reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour.
The pursuit, which lasted less than a minute, ended when the driver tried to exit Route 291 at Exit 4 at a high rate of speed. Unable to negotiate the curve, the vehicle crashed and rolled over.
