SHREWSBURY — On Saturday, June 15, 2024, at about 7:50 p.m., two New York residents were arrested for using counterfeit U.S. currency to purchase $1,517.94 worth of merchandise from the Home Depot located at 530 Turnpike Road.
According to the Statement of Facts in Support of Application for Criminal Complaint submitted by the Shrewsbury Police Department to Westborough District Court, Christopher Dale, 34, of 56 Saint Nicholas, Apt. 4L, New York, NY, conspired with an individual named Neigabe J. Stewart, 41, of Mount Vernon, NY, to purchase the merchandise with the counterfeit money. After Dale completed the purchase with the counterfeit money, Home Depot employees confronted him about the fake bills in the parking lot.
On March 22, 2024, Dale and Stewart were arrested for purchasing about $1,270 worth of merchandise from a Home Depot in Poughkeepsie, New York, the New York State Police announced in a press release.
“Both parties intended to purchase those items with the counterfeit money permanently depriving the store of property,” the Shrewsbury Police Department wrote in its Statement of Facts. “The bills passed by Dale and the bills in the possession of Stewart contained the same serial numbers and denominations.”
Dale was charged with:

Stewart was charged with:
- Conspiracy
- Counterfeit Note, Possess
Dale’s bail was set at $1,000 cash. He was arraigned in Westborough District Court on June 17. 2024.
Dale attended a pretrial hearing on July 7, 2024.
