Massachusetts State Trooper Arrested Following Domestic Incident in Fitchburg

FITCHBURG — A Massachusetts State Police trooper, Dylan Knox, 31, of Fitchburg, was arrested on August 15 following a domestic incident and is now on restricted duty. Knox faces multiple charges, including assault with a dangerous weapon, strangulation, and witness intimidation, all felonies, as well as a misdemeanor charge of domestic assault and battery, according to court records.

Details of the case remain unclear, as some documents have been sealed at the request of prosecutors.

Knox plead not guilty to all of the aforementioned charges during his arraignment in Fitchburg District Court on Aug. 16. Knox’s attorney, Benjamin Megrian, stated that his client “steadfastly denies these allegations” and looks forward to clearing his name.

After his arrest, the State Police launched an internal affairs investigation, leading to Knox’s placement on restricted duty. Last Wednesday, the Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission suspended Knox’s law enforcement certification, barring him from performing police duties. If convicted, Knox could permanently lose his certification.

Knox, a member of Troop B covering western Massachusetts, was released on $500 bail after a court appearance on August 16, where he was ordered to stay away from victims and witnesses and to wear a GPS monitor.

This is the second time in two weeks that a Massachusetts state trooper has been charged with domestic assault and battery.
