SHREWSBURY โ€” On Monday, Nov. 25, 2024, at approximately 3:18 p.m., Officer Lynnet Sloan of the Shrewsbury Police Department was informed by Jessica Atwood, the departmentโ€™s jail diversion program co-response clinician, that she had received a voicemail from a woman over the age of 60. The woman reported that her son, Daniel Frederickson, had physically assaulted her by grabbing her arm (bicep), knocking her off balance, and causing her to fall to the ground.

According to police, Daniel M. Frederickson, 35, is a resident of 20 Eaton Avenue, Shrewsbury, MA.

โ€œWhile speaking with the reporting party, Frederickson drove past our location at 70 Clinton Street (public way in the Town of Shrewsbury), operating MA Reg. [# redacted],โ€ Officer Sloan said. โ€œOfficer [Chad] Chysna, operating in a fully marked unit, immediately attempted to stop the vehicle, using emergency blue lights and sirens, but the vehicle continued on, turning left onto Verona Avenue, right onto Jacob Avenue, left on Pleasant View Street, stopping in front of house number nine.โ€

Frederickson got out of his vehicle and Officer Chysna ordered him to turn around and place his hands behind his back, Officer Sloan said.

โ€œFrederickson failed to comply,โ€ said Officer Sloan. โ€œOfficer Chysna and Officer [Matthew] Mattero, in full uniform, attempted to place him in custody. At this time, Frederickson tensed his arms up, resisting arrest and began physically assaulting both officers.โ€

According to Officer Sloan, Frederickson attempted to take Officer Matteroโ€™s taser before slamming him into a parked car outside 9 Pleasant View Street. The car, belonging to a resident, sustained damage to the front passenger-side fender and hood.

โ€œThis occurred in a normally quiet, low traffic neighborhood where people often walk,โ€ Officer Sloan said. โ€œA family was walking their dog right by the incident and another family member who was in the home across the street, yelled for them to hurry inside to get away from what was happening. Fredericksonโ€™s tumultuous behavior caused the public to be alarmed and in fear for their safety.โ€

Frederickson was arrested and charged with the following:

  1. Fail to Stop for Police
  2. Resisting Arrest
  3. Assault & Battery
  4. Assault & Battery on 60+/Disabled
  5. Assault & Battery Attempt to Disarm Police Officer
  6. Assault & Battery on Police Officer (two counts)
  7. Disorderly Conduct
  8. Disturbing the Peace
  9. Vandalize Property

Frederickson was arraigned in Westborough District Court on Nov. 26, 2024.

  1. This man is a menace to society with a long history of violence who should be put away for as long as possible to keep him away from the general public and government employees to protect their safety.
