Worcester man wins $1 million prize from Mass. Lottery scratch ticket

WORCESTER — A Worcester resident is the latest big winner in the Massachusetts State Lottery.

Alan D’Allessandro, a local karate instructor, won a $1 million prize from the lottery’s “$5,000,000 100X Cashword” instant ticket game, where the odds of winning the $1 million prize are 1 in 1,008,000.

He purchased the winning ticket on March 20, 2025, at Edgemere Mini Mart, located at 1 Pineland Ave. #9 in Shrewsbury, according to the Massachusetts Lottery.

D’Allessandro chose to receive his prize as a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes.

The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
