Twelve displaced by attic fire on Albee Street in Fitchburg

FITCHBURG — A fire that broke out at 37 Albee Street Wednesday evening displaced 12 residents and caused an estimated $50,000 in damage, according to Fitchburg Fire Chief Dante Suarez.

The fire was reported at 6:41 p.m. on July 2, 2025. Fitchburg firefighters arrived on scene to find fire spreading into the attic of the multi-family residence.

Attack line hoses were deployed, a water supply was established, and the fire was quickly brought under control.

Chief Suarez said the fire was caused by an overloaded electrical circuit.

No injuries were reported.

The American Red Cross and Salvation Army are assisting the displaced residents.

Mutual aid was provided by departments from Leominster, Lunenburg, and Westminster.
