Officer Patenaude who was on patrol in the area, arrived on scene at approximately 5:10 p.m.

“I initially checked Maple Avenue and Highland Park Road without any contact with the male party,” Officer Patenaude said. “As I approached the stop sign on Highland Park Road at Maple Avenue, I noticed a male party matching the description approaching my cruiser from the yard of 1 Highland Park Road. I recognized this individual as Mr. David Bolduc of 1 Highland Park Road.”

“When Mr. Bolduc came to the side of my cruiser, he struck my cruiser window with his hand loudly which I perceived as a punch,” Officer Patenaude said. “Mr. Bolduc was aggressively yelling at me asking why the Rutland Police Department has a problem with his family.”

Officer Patenaude reported that Bolduc appeared visibly agitated and likely under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

“After punching my cruiser window, he reached into my cruiser through the opening in the window raising my concern that he may try to enter my cruiser,” Officer Patenaude said. “I subsequently pulled my cruiser forward to prevent Mr. Bolduc from entering it, at which point I exited my vehicle and unholstered my taser. I did not turn it on or point it at Mr. Bolduc since he began to back away as the other three police units arrived immediately as I exited my cruiser. Mr. Bolduc then retreated into his home at 1 Highland Park Road.”

Officer Patenaude said that Sergeant Chauvin later informed him that Bolduc admitted he was drunk and had thrown the beer he was drinking into the woods when officers arrived.

“At approximately 8:55 p.m., Officer Deschamps followed up on a department phone with the reporting party, [name redacted],” Officer Patenaude said. The reporting party was a woman who resides on Thurston Hill Road in Rutland.

“[The reporting party] stated to Officer Deschamps that the individual she witnessed appeared mad at a passing motorist and screamed at them,” Officer Patenaude said. “The motorist turned around to talk to the individual and the individual subsequently kicked the door of the car. Officer Deschamps advised me that [the reporting party’s] description was consistent with the description of Mr. Bolduc that we saw this evening.”

After receiving this information, Officer Patenaude determined that Bolduc’s tumultuous behavior, along with its effect on multiple community members, established probable cause to charge him with the following:

  • Disorderly Conduct

Bolduc’s arraignment was scheduled for May 16, 2025, in East Brookfield District Court.
