LANCASTER — On August 14, 2025, just before 1:00 a.m., officers with the Lancaster Police Department received a 911 call reporting an attempted carjacking and armed robbery on Seven Bridge Road (Route 117) near the Bolton town line.
According to a statement from Lancaster’s Police Chief Everett Moody, responding officers determined that an Uber driver and his passenger had stopped in the roadway to remove a tree limb that was blocking the travel lane. When they did so, two men emerged from the tree-line, one from each side of the roadway.
“One suspect was armed with a firearm, while the other entered the vehicle,” Moody said in the statement. “The unarmed suspect got into the driver’s seat, while the armed suspect attempted to enter the rear seat. The armed suspect reportedly opened the rear door, pointed the firearm at the passenger, demanded her phone, and ordered her out of the vehicle.”
The Uber driver then physically confronted the suspect in the driver’s seat, forcibly removing him from the vehicle.
“The driver then located his passenger, who had fled in the opposite direction, and both left the area unharmed before contacting police,” Moody said. Adding, “The suspects are described as Hispanic males of smaller stature. One was described as having puffy hair consistent with an afro, wearing sweatpants and no shirt. The second suspect was described as only Hispanic, with no further details available.”
Moody said that although the crimes associated with the incident are “serious in nature,” investigators do not believe there is an ongoing threat or “specific danger” to the community at this time.
The incident remains under investigation by the Lancaster Police Department.
