RUTLAND — A structure fire on Central Tree Road near the Holden line closed the roadway today.
According to a statement from the Rutland Police Department posted to social media at approximately 9:57 a.m., on Aug. 15, 2025, the fire, reported near Cannon Road, prompted emergency crews to shut down the area to traffic while firefighters worked at the scene.
No additional details about the fire or possible injuries were immediately available.
Police say a 59-year-old Rutland man shouted profanities at a nurse and alarmed his neighbors by shining a spotlight into their windows late at night. He has been summonsed to court for disturbing the peace.
A Worcester woman told police, “You guys are always chasing me in this town, I hate Rutland,” after her black Audi A3 SE was flagged for lack of insurance and towed. She was cited for revoked registration and no insurance.
A 30-year-old woman and her two nearly two-week old twins died after they were taken off of life support Friday, following a medical emergency that led to an emergency C-section at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester on Dec. 16, 2024.
