SOUTHBOROUGH — On Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, at approximately 10:35 a.m., Southborough police were dispatched to the area of 33 Main Street following a report of a crash involving a pedestrian.
According to a statement from Southborough’s Police Chief Ryan Newell, when officers arrived on scene, they learned that a family of four was crossing Main Street in a crosswalk when the father and his two-year-old son were struck by a Ford Escape SUV.
The boy was treated at the scene and transported to an area hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. The father was uninjured.
The driver of the SUV, Thomas Turner, 85, of Wayland, remained at the scene, police said.
“The preliminary investigation indicates that Turner did not slow down while the family was in the crosswalk and struck the boy,” Chief Ryan said.
Thomas Turner was issued a citation for the following charges/violations:
- Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Crosswalk Violation
“The Southborough Police Department filed an immediate threat suspension request with the Registry of Motor Vehicles,” Chief Newell said.
