Cohasset firefighters put out garage fire on Beechwood Street

COHASSET — At approximately 12:18 p.m. today, Cohasset fire and police units were dispatched to the 400 block of Beechwood Street following a report of a garage fire.

According to a statement from the Cohasset Police Department, when first responders arrived on scene, the garage was fully engulfed in flames.

“The homeowner informed first responders that the garage was unoccupied but contained several containers of gasoline, propane, and acetylene,” the Cohasset Police Department said in its statement. “Firefighters quickly worked to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures.”

A section of Beechwood Street was closed for about an hour while crews worked on scene.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, the Cohasset Police Department said.
