Pedestrian struck and killed on Washington Street in Auburn

AUBURN — On Sunday, November 30, 2025, at approximately 9:50 p.m., the Auburn Public Safety Communications Center received two reports of a man in the roadway on Washington Street (Route 20) at the Worcester line near Namco.

According to a statement from the Auburn Police Department, a third caller then reported that the man in the roadway had been struck by a vehicle.

Auburn police and firefighters responded to the scene and found the man deceased in the roadway. Officers immediately closed Washington Street in both directions and secured the scene.

According to police, the driver who struck the man remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. “There we no signs of intoxication or obvious wrong doing by the operator,” the Auburn Police Department said in its statement.

Detectives from the Auburn Police Department and members of the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Accident Reconstruction Team responded and took over the investigation.

Police said the victim, who was 56-years-old, was a resident of the 17 Washington Street mobile home park. His name, as well as the name of the driver, is not being released at this time.

Police said no foul play is suspected.

Auburn police extended condolences to the victim’s family.
