MANSFIELD — Two Mansfield High School head coaches have been recognized with Coach of the Year honors from the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA).
According to a statement from Mansfield Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Michelle McKeon, Stephen Sheridan, head coach of the Mansfield High School boys soccer team, and Michael Redding, head coach of the high school’s football program, were each named MIAA Coach of the Year for their respective sports for the 2024–25 season. The awards were presented at the MIAA Awards Banquet on Dec. 8, 2025.
“I am extremely honored and grateful to receive this award,” Sheridan said. “This recognition truly reflects the dedication of my coaching staff and the commitment, character, and effort of our student-athletes, who make coaching such a rewarding experience.”

Redding also expressed appreciation for the honor, saying, “Coaching at Mansfield High School has been a privilege, and this award represents the dedication of many people who care deeply about our students and our community.”
Sheridan has been part of the Mansfield boys soccer program since 1998 and has served as varsity head coach since 2010. His teams have captured multiple league championships, reached the MIAA Final Four in 2024, and earned numerous coaching honors. He has also remained active in community youth soccer programs and local service efforts.
Redding has led the Mansfield High School football program for more than 37 years, earning over 300 wins, eight state championships, and 20 league titles. He was inducted into the Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame in 2019 and has received multiple regional and national coaching honors.
School administrators praised both coaches for their long-standing impact on student-athletes and the Mansfield community, citing their leadership, commitment, and influence both on and off the field.
“Coach Sheridan and Coach Redding have dedicated decades to serving Mansfield students with passion and professionalism,” Superintendent McKeon said. “Their recognition at the state and regional levels reflects the strength of our athletic programs and the values we instill in our schools.”
