Lawrence man sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for fentanyl distribution

BOSTON — A Lawrence man was sentenced June 12, 2026, in federal court in Boston to two and a half years in prison for distributing fentanyl and possessing fentanyl with intent to distribute.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, Jhonatan Monegro Rosario, 37, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani to 30 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

Monegro Rosario pleaded guilty in March 2026 to one count of distribution of and possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Ted E. Docks, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Boston Division, announced the sentence.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Charles Dell’Anno and Brad A. Rocheville of the Narcotics and Money Laundering Unit prosecuted the case.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts said the case was part of the Homeland Security Task Force initiative, a federal interagency effort involving several law enforcement agencies, including HSI, FBI, DEA, ATF, U.S. Marshals Service, IRS Criminal Investigation, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Department of Labor Office of Inspector General, and Diplomatic Security Service.
