ATTLEBORO — On Monday, June 22, 2026, at approximately 2:26 p.m., the Attleboro Fire Department was dispatched to the area of Rachael Drive following a report of a vehicle in the woods.
According to the Attleboro Fire Department, crews arrived to find a vehicle in the backyard of a residence on Captain Courtois Road.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a man in his 70s, was located on the ground outside the vehicle. Firefighters and paramedics immediately began providing medical care to the man on scene before he was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

The Attleboro Fire Department reported that the vehicle was traveling on Rachael Drive when it left the roadway, traveled approximately 75 feet through a wooded area, struck and damaged a fence, passed through a small stone fire pit, and came to rest in the backyard.
“It’s fortunate the incident did not have a more serious outcome,” Lieutenant Gerry Normandin said. “The vehicle traveled a considerable distance off the roadway and narrowly missed multiple trees before coming to a stop. Given the path the vehicle took, damage was limited.”
No injuries to firefighters were reported. Crews remained on scene until approximately 2:45 p.m.
The Attleboro Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
