LAWRENCE — Two unrelated deaths that both took place in Lawrence on Thursday, July 23, 2026, are under investigation.
According to Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker, Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to his office responded early Thursday morning to a fatal shooting on Bay State Road, where a 44-year-old man was pronounced dead.
That afternoon, authorities responded to reports of a woman’s body in the Merrimack River. Her body was recovered, but she had not been identified when Tucker’s office issued its statement on July 23.
Both deaths remain under investigation.
