SHREWSBURY – After experiencing delays, the new Market Basket located at 200 Hartford Turnpike is slated to open Jan. 13.
According to the Telegram & Gazette, the operations director for Market Basket, David McLean, said the supermarket chain was hoping to open the store last year, but it was delayed due to “construction setbacks.”
The supermarket is part of the Edgemere Crossing project approved by the Planning Board about three years ago, the Community Advocate reports.
The Edgemere Crossing project is a mixed use, residential/commercial development. Developers say the supermarket will anchor the Edgemere Apartment complex, which is about a fifth of a mile away on Flint Pond Circle.
The project occupies the long-vacant parcel left by the Edgemere Drive-In.
McLean anticipates a line of customers outside the supermarket when it opens its doors at 7 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 13.
