HAVERHILL — On Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Haverhill police responded to 2 Cottage Place after receiving a report of a barricaded person inside an apartment making threats.
According to the Haverhill Police Department, when officers arrived on scene, they established a perimeter, and learned that the individual was the only person inside the apartment.
Due to safety concerns, surrounding residences were temporarily evacuated as a precaution. Police remained on scene throughout the evening and into the early morning hours of Monday, Sept. 7, while efforts were made to bring the situation to a safe resolution.
“The incident ended peacefully, with no reported injuries to members of the public or responding personnel,” the Haverhill Police Department said in a statement.
The Haverhill Police Department thanked the Massachusetts State Police Special Tactical Operations Team for their assistance with the response.
The department also thanked area residents for their cooperation, patience and understanding while police worked to resolve the incident.
The Haverhill Police Department said no further information about the individual will be released at this time.
